Before joining Toscafund in 2008 Savvas was the CEO of Quantmetriks. Between 1991 and 2005 he worked for Lazard Capital Markets, Credit Lyonnais Securities and Commerzbank Securities after having started with ABN Amro, in each case in the capacity of Head of Quantitative Economics. Before 1991 Savvas lectured at the LSE and Oxford University in statistics, economics and forecasting. Dr Savouri was awarded a doctorate in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics, where he also obtained MSc and BSc degrees in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics. His callaborative work on labour market economics has been published in the Economic Journal & Economic Policy.
Trevor Green joined New Star in June 2008 as a UK equity fund manager from RCM (UK) Ltd., where he was a director. Prior to this, Trevor was a portfolio manager for UK and European Equities with Credit Suisse Asset Management. During his five years with Credit Suisse, Trevor was an associate director and then director within the UK equity team. In September 1999, Trevor was appointed manager of the Credit Suisse Growth Fund, ranked 16th out of 266 funds in its Micropal category and was awarded an A rating by Standard & Poor in December 2000. He started his career as a fund manager at Capel Cure Myers in 1990 with responsibility for its UK Smaller Companies Fund. Trevor graduated from Aberdeen University with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies in 1990.
Nicky Stewart is an Investor Relations advisor with clients spanning FTSE100 constituents to smaller companies. Prior to this she spent nearly 20 years as a stockbroker, predominantly specialising in the media industry as an analyst/head of team at firms including Natwest Markets and Deutsche Bank. She then switched to equity sales at JP Morgan and latterly, Canaccord.
Mike has many years experience in the financial services industry; an enquiring mind with a strong ability to motivate himself and others. Mike Worked at Wedd Dutlacher Mordaunt and Co as a trader from 1982, and then joined Kleinwort Benson. From 1989 to February 2010 Mike was head of Pan-European Sales Trading at ABN AMRO Bank where he ran the trading team, regarded as the number one team in the city; one of the many achievements at ABN AMRO. From May-Oct 2010 mike was Head of Relationship Management and Chief Executive between Oct-Dec 2012. Mike received a BA in Economics at the University of Warwick and a Master of Philosophy in Economics at the University of Cambridge.
Previously Simon was CEO of Arcus Global Partners, Managing Director of Correlate Search, (formerly known as Alexander Mann), a private equity-backed financial markets specialist search firm with offices in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore, which was successfully sold in 2007. Simon has personally specialised in the equity markets, both buy and sell side, and is one of the most experienced consultants in this field, completing many high profile appointments as well as being involved in a number of small corporate and private equity deals. Simon was previously in the Army (Queens Royal Lancers) serving in Northern Ireland, the Gulf and Balkans.
Steve has worked on the 'sell side' for a number of investment banks covering the transport, utilities and conglomerates sectors. In 2005 he moved to the 'buy side' where he was a partner at Toscafund Asset Management LLP then Head of Research at Altima Partners LLP. He is currently a Director/Co-founder of Ochre Securities Ltd and ValuAnalysis Ltd, two companies specialising in quantitative quoted company research. He is a founding partner of the Balance Sheet Surgery LLP, a financial analysis and research consultancy.
Ian Carstairs serves as Trust Manager of INVESCO Convertible Trust PLC, Invesco City & Commercial Trust Plc and The Cayenne Trust plc. Mr Carstairs served as Executive Officer of Invesco Asset Management Limited, an Investment Manager of Invesco Recovery Trust 2005 Plc. Mr. Carstairs has worked at INVESCO for 12 years. He has managed UK equity investments since 1976 for Sun Life Assurance, J Rothschild Investment Management, Target Fund Managers, Mercury Asset Managers and Invesco. He serves as a Director of Future Route Limited.
Glenn has been the Managing Director at VTB Capital since 2010, he has held senior positions at ING as Managing Director and Commerzbank AG as a Director over the years.
Mike has worked as a Diplomat in Poland, Iran and Laos, a pension fund manager and chairman, a top-rate analyst for a stock brokerage speacialising in gilts and corporate Bonds, Head of Research for a number of banks involved in structured trading, asset swaps and derivatives. Mike holds records for the size of his derivative transactions used when amassing a £5bn portfolio. He is passionate about motor racing and is a Le Mans winner as well as team owner.
Ope started his career at Lloyd’s of London as a graduate trainee Underwriter working for one of the largest syndicates, Ace Insurance, before moving into the investment banking unit of Commerzbank where he worked in equity research and sales covering the financial services sector. Ope went on to work in the same role at other investment banks including UBS Warburg and Fox-Pitt Kelton. Ope is currently a partner at Upstream Capital which is a recently established financial services boutique focused on providing investment, insurance and wealth management services between capital abundant and emerging economies. Ope Adewale holds a BA in Economics from the University of Sussex and a postgraduate law degree from Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of London. He is also a holder of an Associateship of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
John started his city career in 1966 working as a research analyst at Hoare & Co. He moved into institutional sales in 1973 and for the following 9 years was responsible for the firm's Scottish clients as well as a number of senior merchant banking accounts in London. He joined the partnership of Hoare Govett in 1976. He set up the firm's operations in New York in 1982, selling global equities to US institutional investors. Moving back to the UK in 1985 he became Managing Director of Morgan Grenfell Securities, and then worked as an MD of Morgan Stanley and Head of Equity Sales at Credit Lyonnais Laing. There followed ten years in executive search as a Partner in the Berwick Group and head of the Financial Services Practice at Odgers Berndtson.
Leslie has worked at Tullett Prebon for 20 years as the managing director; responsible for all Equity and Securities business throughout EMEA. He is a member of the Executive Committee, responsible for running all asset classes for Tullett Prebon EMEA. Also responsible for creating the largest independant network of stock exchange memberships in Europe and creating Tullett Prebons DMA platform. Leslie founded and ran OCM Capital Markets, a pure agency stockbroker that was fully Mifid compliant in 2006, the assets of which were acquired by Global Prime Partners in December 2012.
